(1935-) 14th Dalai Lama “Tenzin Gyatso”, enthroned as the temporal leader of Tibet, after the Chinese invasion of Tibet and many failed meetings with Mao Zedong, he fled to India where he tried to convince the government to pressure China into giving Tibet an autonomous government, presented many plans for peace with China to the UN, he succeeded to win the western world sympathy with the Tibetans, won the 1989 Nobel prize for peace
