J. D. Salinger
(1919-2010) He was an American author. He was known for his reclusive nature. Dated the daughter of the playwright Eugene O'Neill and later the wife of Charlie Chaplin, close friend of Ernest Hemmingway. After this, he served in the US army during WW2 after which he was hospitalized for a few weeks for combat stress reaction. He was a fierce Religious researcher and moved from Judaism to Buddhism to Hinduism and later other faiths and practices. 'Catcher in the Rye' was a very controversial book upon its release. Although it received highly positive vritical reviews, teachers who assigned the book were fired or forced to resign. He refused all attempts to adapt the book into a movie.
